đļ How does step tracking work?
Agatha uses your phone’s built-in step counter to track your progress. When you select a destination, the app calculates the number of steps needed based on real-world distances. As you walk, your progress is updated in real-time.
đ Do I need to walk to exact GPS coordinates?
No! Agatha is step-based, not GPS-based. You can walk anywhere you like – around your neighborhood, on a treadmill, or in any safe location. The app tracks your steps, not your actual location.
đ How do I solve the mystery?
Visit locations to collect clues. Each clue eliminates suspects by providing alibis. When only one suspect remains without an alibi, you’ve found the thief! Then visit the location where the stolen item is hidden to win.
đŽ Can I play with friends?
Yes! Create a multiplayer game and invite friends, or join an existing public game. The first player to solve the mystery wins. Check the leaderboard to see who’s ahead.
đ Can I pause my game?
Yes, you can pause and resume your game at any time. Your progress is automatically saved. You can also have multiple games active across different venues.
đ Can I visit the same location multiple times?
Yes! You can visit any location as many times as you like. Each location may have multiple clues to discover.
đ Does the app drain my battery?
Agatha is designed to be battery-efficient. The app uses minimal background processing and only your phone’s native step counter, which is already running.
đ Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, you need an internet connection to start a game and load clues. Step tracking works without an internet connection but you need the internet for clues to load and to update multiplayer games.
đī¸ What cities are available?
Agatha currently features multiple cities including Asheville (NC), New York City, Paris, and more. New venues are added regularly. Check the app for the complete list.
đ° Is Agatha free?
Agatha offers both free and premium content. Some venues and features may require a subscription or one-time purchase. Check the app for current pricing.
Troubleshooting
Steps Not Tracking
- Check Permissions: Make sure you’ve granted Agatha permission to access your motion & fitness data in your phone’s settings
- Restart the App: Close and reopen Agatha
- Check Health App: Ensure your phone’s health/fitness app is tracking steps correctly
- Restart Your Phone: Sometimes a device restart is needed to reset the step counter
App Won’t Load or Crashes
- Update the App: Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store or Google Play
- Check Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable connection
- Clear Cache: Try clearing the app’s cache in your phone settings
- Reinstall: As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall the app (your progress is saved to your account)
Can’t Sign In
- Reset Password: Use the “Forgot Password” link on the login page
- Check Email: Make sure you’re using the correct email address
- Check Spam: Password reset emails might be in your spam folder
